San Diego, Calif. - September 13, 2012: In support of the families of current and former military personnel, Sunroad Automotive employees presented a $21,000 check to the local San Diego USO at a dinner commemorating 9/11. The event for USO families was complete with an American themed dinner of American BBQ and apple pie. Sunroad's continued effort to set the example and inspire other local businesses to support our troops and pledge support for their cause was evident in the evening's $21,000 presentation.
Donations for the $21,000 check came directly from the proceeds of Sunroad Automotive's month-long Military Appreciation Sale back in May of this year. Automotive customers who purchased a vehicle during the month of May were helping Sunroad Automotive donate a pledge to the local USO. In addition to the donation, the San Diego-based company also offered huge savings and special discounts to active and retired military members. Active and retired military were encouraged to purchase a vehicle during the Military Appreciation Sale to support various USO programs.
"We are excited to have this opportunity to show our gratitude to the brave men and women who make it their life's work to defend our freedom," said Wayne Meyer, president of Sunroad Automotive.
Sunroad Automotive was established in San Diego in 1984. Its dealerships that are participating in this event include: Pacific Honda, Toyota Chula Vista, Scion Chula Vista, Kearny Pearson Ford, Kearny Pearson Kia, Kearny Mesa Infiniti, Kearny Mesa Subaru, Kearny Mesa Hyundai and BMW South County.
